THE ARTIST BIO
Karina Marie Diaz, photographer, artist and designer, creates from the mantra: women are always the most beautiful when they are truly themselves. Karina’s work takes women deeper into their own magnificent essence and beauty, which shines through in her photographs.

For more than nine years, Karina has worked with women during some of the most important times of their lives – weddings, pregnancy, and the arrival of a new baby. Karina’s photographs celebrate women in all of their beauty and power. Karina opened her studio to photograph women at any stage of life, providing the experience of having their essence captured through photographs.

To date, over 200 women have given themselves the gift of a custom designed portrait session with Karina. Her clients describe their appreciation in their thank you notes. Paige wanted a portrait session that would capture the wonder and excitement in her life when she was newly engaged. “I can’t thank you enough for making me feel comfortable, supported and downright lovely. I so appreciate the way you captured my essence – it’s magic, pure magic.”

Before working as a photo stylist for catalogues and fashion shoots, Karina formally trained in the Visual Arts in graphic design, print production and visual communication at California Polytechnic State University and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Karina also spent time on the other side of the camera as a model in New York City. This experience ignited her passion to encourage women to celebrate their unique selves by having photographs taken that capture their essence and spirit. 

In addition to her work with women, Karina shares her love of family by creating photography heirlooms that capture timeless and emotion-filled cinematic stories for weddings as well as “A Day in the Life of Your Family” portrait sessions. 

Since starting her own photography business in 1999, Karina’s work has been featured in a plethora of media, magazines, books and websites such as Grace Ormonde, Elegant Bride, Modern Bride, Wedding Bells and The Knot. In addition to having her work exhibited she has also appeared as a photography expert on television shows such as “A View from the Bay,” ABC’s popular daytime talk show. Her work has taken her from California to Egypt, the Netherlands’s Antilles Islands, Kauai and beyond. 

On a personal note, Karina, a Bay Area native, lives in San Francisco with her two kitties, Luna and Suki. Growing up, Karina spent her summers with family in Norway. “Travel has always been a part of my life. My best souvenirs are the languages I have learned, Norwegian, Spanish and French. I love to practice whenever I get the chance. ” Karina reflects, “I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t taking photographs, I fell in love with the magic of photography at the age of nine and have been capturing people’s vivid energy ever since.”
